JAKARTA (Jurnalislam.com) – The Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Kahmad states his refusal of cleric (da’i) certification agenda by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. According to him, the cleric was asked by the people, not institutions.

“Well, I guess it is not right. The cleric was actually appointed by the community instead of institutions,” he told Jurniscom in Muhammadiyah Da’wah Center Building, Menteng, Jakarta, Friday (01/03/2017).

Dadang rated, the discourse of such certification would be a guardrail for cleric to preach. “Maybe it is in the context of constraints, which are considered dangerous and radical that will not be certified. I do not think that it will be good, I do not agree,” he explained.

Furthermore, he said, the certification will make the cleric tends to certify themselves and their fellowship only.

“I would not prefer it, it is the Dutch. If one wants to certify, the consequence is he should pay the cleric highly, would he give a good payment for the clerics?” he concluded.
