JAKARTA (Jurnalislam.com) – The final trial of religious defamation with defendant Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) was held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ragunan, South Jakarta, Tuesday (9/5/2017).
The 22nd session is scheduled for the verdict of the Panel of Judges chaired by Dwirso Budi Santiarto SH. M.hum, and as a member of Jupriyadi SH. M.hum, Abdul Rosyad SH, Joseph V Rahantokman SH, and I Wayan Wirjana SH.

At the hearing, Judge Dwirso asked permission from the Prosecutors (Prosecutors), Ahok, and Ahok’s Attorneys Team to not read the entire judge’s verdict, as it consisted of more than 630 pages.
In the ruling, the judge sentenced Ahok to a two-year term, and a five-thousand-rupiah court fee.
“Stating the defendant Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) proved legally and convincingly guilty of criminal defamation of religion. And ordered the defendant to be detained, “Dwiarso said.
Before the verdict, the judge said that Ahok had been proven to insult and abuse the holy verse from Surah Al Maidah verse 51, and deliberately delivered the defamed in public in front of the people of Pulau Pramuka, Kepulauan Seribu.
“Whoever relays the Quranic verse must relay it with truth, and it should not be defamed to the public,” said one judge.
The judge also said the decision was in line with the opinions of expert witnesses presented, including KH. Yunahar Ilyas, Habib Rizieq Shihab, and the fatwa of Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) no. 981 dated October 11, 2016.
The judges also said that as a public official, the Governor of DKI, Ahok should never have mentioned anything related to religion that is sensitive. After negotiating with the Legal Counsel, Ahok decided to keep appealing. “We will make an appeal,” he said.
The Panel of Judges then gave the next seven days to Ahok to file a plea. After the verdict, the police, who were waiting from the time of the tap of the judges hammer immediately lead Ahok who now has the status of inmates to Prison Cipinang, East Jakarta.
