JAKARTA (Jurnalislam.com) – Legal counselor team of the accused alleged case of blasphemy, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok refused Dr. Hamdan Rashid as expert witness. The legal counselor team together with Ahok did not ask any question and closed the session.
“We reject Rashid Hamdan as an expert witness, because we are questioning his independence,” said Ahok legal counselor team in the ninth session at the auditorium of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ragunan, Jakarta, Tuesday (06/02/2017).
In response, Dr. Rashid Hamdan asserted that his testimony was independent, fair and only focus on providing information about tafsir Al Quran and hadith.
“I am certainly independent. I fear Allah as a Muslim. I could not have done some wickedness (kedzaliman) to anyone,” he said after the hearing.
He denied Ahok legal counselor team saying that he is not neutral for citing some similar answer in the BAP (Berita Acara Perkara). Indeed, the similarities between KH Ma’ruf Amin answers with his are precisely prove that they have the same common source of answers which is the Al Quran.
“It is not a problem if we have the same source, otherwise, it will be if funny if we have a different source. We have one similar Quran, so is the heart. Why should we have different source? “He said.
As known, since the first time Dr. Hamdan Rashid sits in the courtroom, Ahok legal counselor team has objected. But the judges firmly continue the hearing and declare that he will be fair in accordance to the witness testimony.
However, when the trial resumed and it was the time for Ahok legal counselor team to ask some questions, they chose to express an attitude of rejection and the trial finally closed.
