Cleric Certification, DDII Central Java: We Do Not Care, Da’wah Continues!

KARANGANYAR (Jurnalislam.com) – The idea of forcing cleric (da’i) certification by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA) protests a number of Islamic leaders. Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Council (DDII) Central Java, Ustadz Aris Munandar Al-Fatah said the plan is not only contrary to Islamic law but also contrary to democracy.

“It is a part of restricting the freedom of knowledge and is contrary to the democratic system, not only contrary to the Islamic system,” he told Jurniscom in Karanganyar, Friday (02/03/2017).

Ustadz Aris rated, the plan is an attempt to hinder the da’wah of Islam that continued since the New Order (Orde Baru).

“We assume that cleric certification is a part of the Grand Design to impede Islamic movement and indeed it is a metorfosis of a rule issued by the New Order…the new order was first issued the Cleric’s License (Surat Izin Mubaligh-SIM),” he said.

According to him, the discourse of certification is made to reduce the credibility of MUI in the eyes of Muslims. Authorities has consider MUI as a source of noise for issued a fatwa after blasphemy by Ahok.

“They are trying to minimize the laws issued by ulama that contrary to the current rulers. They also failed to dictate MUI of issuing the fatwa. They want to find a breakthrough, after Menkopolhukam with the order from Jokowi failed when MUI refuse the order,” he added.

However, Ustadz Aris do not care if the cleric certification discourse is initiated by the government. “This Da’wah must go on, we do not care, whatever rules they are trying to make,” he concluded.
